Updated 3/30/06: Blue has turned out to be an extremely pleasant surprise to his foster mom. She had been told he was an escape artist and a runner. This has not turned out to be true. Blue has not even attempted to jump or climb her 4-foot fence. When he first arrived, he checked the fence and decided he could not get out and did not try again. Now that he has been there a while, he would not leave for anything.
Blue’s energy levels are not at all excessive. Actually, when he is indoors, he is a lump. The “lump” will come to life at the prospect of getting attention. Then he grabs up whatever is handy and walks around with it proudly in his mouth. Blue LOVES stuffed toys to carry around and his family tries to keep plenty available. Sometimes he does get a shoe, but he does not hurt the shoe in any way, he just carries it around.
He will chase a tennis ball when there is someone to throw for him and he will eagerly load up when there is a chance to ride in the car.
Blue is currently “on hold” due to his lymph nodes being slightly enlarged. He is doing a two week course of antibiotics and then will be evaluated again to ensure that everything is back to normal.
Blue loves to cuddle on the furniture and in the “people” bed. He has the softest, sweetest springer personality his foster mom has seen in a while. He will make an extremely loving loyal companion to someone. Is that you?
Original Blue is a lively, strong and tall field bred Springer. When he is outside, he knows only one speed and that is “full steam ahead!” He is quite fit and loves to run. He can go for at least 45 minutes at a stretch and is amazing to watch. He will chase deer, squirrels, basically anything moving. A fast game of fetch is quite to his liking too and he LOVES swimming.
There’s a bit of “Houdini” in this fellow. Blue can fit his 55 pounds through small spaces to take himself out for a run if his foster family is looking the other way. The good news is that he does come back. Good dog!!!!
When Blue is inside, he is the laziest couch potato ever. Though he has an independent streak when he is outdoors, Blue is very serious and calm in the house when he has ample exercise. He has learned many basic commands. He’ll play with tennis balls and stuffed animals to pass the time. When left at large in the house, Blue does fine. This is particularly important since he does not settle well in a crate or kennel. He’s a great traveler and is trained to stay in the back of his foster mom’s SUV.
Blue likes people of all sizes and has lived with children as young as 9 and adored them. He relishes visits by a 5-year-old grandson in his foster home. Blue would do best with a family who is home more often than not and who would like a jogging partner. Blue would dearly love to find a home where he could sleep in the bed too. He will sleep on the floor but really enjoys a bed. For Blue life is complete with simple things lots of daily outdoor activity and closeness to his family at day’s end. If these are at the top of your list too, Blue would love to meet you!
