Original: Bentley is an 11-month-old, L/W, neutered male who is in need of a new home. His owner has fallen on tough times and feels that she must do what is best for him, a very difficult decision. Bentley currently lives in an apartment with a 6-month-old kitten. He and the kitten are good buddies and will wrestle and chase each other, games usually initiated by the kitten. He is housebroken and is at the end of the puppy chewing phase. He is still crated during the day, however, with a one-hour break for exercise mid-day. The owner states that he likes his crate but also likes to be in the same part of the apartment as she. He loves other dogs and in typical puppy style is thrilled with just about anyone or any event especially car rides! In his abundance of enthusiasm, he may greet people by jumping (for joy) on them.
He has been with children ages 4 to 10. Bentley got part way through an obedience class but due to lack of attendance did not finish. However, he knows sit, stay, and down. He walks well on a leash but is too easily distracted when he is outside to be trusted off leash, yet. He does not bark when left alone for long hours but will bark when he feels you need to know something like “I need to go potty!” He will beg for food. Bentley has always been allowed on the couch with the kitten. Bentley, in true springer fashion, loves to sprint through the grass. He had a bad experience with water. He chased a squirrel at night and ran right into a swimming pool! He will need some help understanding (a) you can’t walk on water (b) swimming can be fun. Bentley’s owner is moving and must find a home by Dec. 28
Can this happy puppy become your companion?
Update: Bentley and his new family have finally found each other.
