Original: “He likes to play chase the tennis ball, but does not always bring it back—oops, exercise for the human also!”
Bentlee has been in a couple of homes in Maryland in his short life. His most recent home loved him dearly, but were worried about their three year old son. Bentlee would play with him for a while, but then he would tire of playing and growl at the youngster. The family was afraid this behavior would escalate and someone would be hurt; they made the difficult decision to have MAESSR find him a forever home.
This young man is a very high energy Springer. He needs a very active family that will make sure his exercise requirements are met. His adoptive family with be required to attend one series of obedience classes with him to help the bonding process and ensure that Bentlee knows to respect his new family.
Bentlee is a little shy when meeting new people. He was started on an inexpensive supplement to help his anxiety and it has made a wonderful improvement.
MAESSR’s new guy is housetrained, crate trained, and has excellent house manners. He will, however, counter-surf at every opportunity but does get down when he is told, “No.” He sleeps either in a crate or on a dog bed in his foster parents’ room. Bentlee likes to ride in the car and is a good passenger.
Outside, Bentlee pulls on the leash like a freight train. His foster mom HIGHLY recommends a harness for walking him. He does loves to play with all of the other dogs in his foster home. He likes to play chase the tennis ball, but does not always bring it back—oops, exercise for the human also! His vet called him energetic, but a sweet, healthy boy.
Bentlee will require a fenced yard so he has plenty of room to run and a very active family to run and play along with him. He should be in a family with children who are old enough to enjoy his playtime and respect his need to stop playing. Young Springer spaniels are just wonderful, and this guy is looking for a wonderful home.
