Update 05/15/2020: “Benny will be such a delightful addition to his forever family!”
Benny had a follow up visit at the vet recently. Concerning his eye cyst, the vet suggested watching and waiting a little longer. If it doesn’t get better, the cyst may have to be removed. Benny’s heartworm test came back negative and he is up to date with all vaccines. Yeah!
Another positive accomplishment for Benny was that he enjoyed a spa treatment. The groomer reported that he was the perfect client. He looks like a show dog now! So handsome!
Benny will be such a delightful addition to his forever family!
Original: “His foster parents have found Benny to be a delight in their household–so mellow and sweet!”
Over the past months, Benny’s New York owner was very ill and a friend was caring for her sweet Springer. When she passed, the friend relinquished him to MAESSR knowing that a wonderful new forever home would be found for his friend’s beloved boy.
His foster parents have found Benny to be a delight in their household—so mellow and sweet! There are no other animals in the home so Benny gets all the attention! He is thriving on that! Due to Covid-19, the grandchildren have not been able to visit so the verdict is still out on how he will react to them. Since Benny is such a love, the hope is he will be fine. On walks when he meets another dog, he barks and tries to interact with his new friend. Again the corona virus prohibits such close meetings at this time.
Housetrained, Benny is trustworthy and has the freedom of the house. It is not known if he is crate trained but that is not needed. In his foster home the bedrooms are on the second floor and for some reason, he will not come up the stairs. So, at night he sleeps very contentedly in the front hall or on the couch. Benny does go up and down the stairs from the deck to the back yard, though. He likes getting on furniture but will jump down when told. He will sit for a treat and walks well on a leash. At mealtime Benny waits patiently for his food and then gobbles it up.
Benny is waiting for his vet appointment and for the groomer to open up again. Riding in the car to those appointments will be no problem for him; he seems to like riding in the car and fell asleep on his drive to his foster home. Quite the lively boy, Benny enjoys playing keep away with a tennis ball.
Watch for more on Benny as he gets to know his foster family more. As the Covid-19 virus regulations ease, he will be allowed to expand his acquaintances to the vet, groomer, grandkids, and fellow dogs.
