Original: “Bella enjoys rough housing a little in play, as long as belly rubs are included!”
Bella and her Springer brother Buck lived happily with their original owner in North Carolina for the first seven years of their lives. Then, life changed for both when their owner was diagnosed with a serious, debilitating disease and she could no longer care for Bella and Buck. These Springers had the good fortune of becoming MAESSR dogs, giving their owner peace of mind knowing that her beloved Springers would find wonderful new forever homes.
Finding the right foster home for each MAESSR dog is important so that the dog can feel comfortable and confident and its personality blossoms. It took a few tries before Bella found the right foster home for her. In her first two, she lived with multiple dogs—something that did not suit her. Her third foster home was the charm! Her foster mom has found her to be “a little sweetheart with some sugar and spice!” This mellow girl has been getting along with the resident male Springer who loves every dog he has met!
Bella is perfectly housetrained and goes to the door to signal her need to go out. If her person doesn’t notice this signal, she is sure to give a bark to alert her person of her needs. It was reported that she had been a counter-surfer in her past, but that behavior has not been observed by her foster family. A snuggler and lover of belly rubs, Bella likes to join members of her foster family on the couch, but will get down if she is told “down.” Then, off she goes to find another warm spot! At night she prefers sleeping with her foster parents on their big bed. When it is treat time, this little girl is quite the lady; she has such a gentle mouth when she takes treats. Bella will also “talk” to her foster parents when it is time for her to eat. Such a character!
When it comes to commands, Bella knows “sit,” “stay,” “out of the kitchen,” and “down” and is learning “paw.” While on leash walks, Bella does a good job with only a little pulling. She rides well in the car and on the trip back from the vet’s office, she was so happy to be going home that she was whimpering a little! Her groomer gave her high marks when Bella went for her spa treatment! She said that Bella was a real sweetie. That said, though, one night before her grooming appointment, her foster mom tried to clean her ears and Bella was not happy with that! She was good for the vet, though, and will be returning there soon for needed dental work and for removal of a cyst on her hip.
Bella enjoys rough housing a little in play, as long as belly rubs are included! Quite the hunter, Bella has brought home the gift of a squirrel and now, she is constantly on the hunt; she even knows to dig where squirrels have buried their treasures! Given Bella’s hunting instinct, her foster mom thinks that living with kitties would not be a good idea.
Stay tuned for updates on this gal as she completes her vetting. Start inquiring about Bella today!
