Original: Beau’s owner died, and the family could no longer take care of him, so MAESSR was contacted to help find him a forever home.
Beau is a very sweet dog who is content to follow you wherever you go! He has adjusted well to living with the four resident Springers in his foster home. Beau cannot live with cats, though. He has great field drive instincts and wants to hunt and chase all small prey including cats. For this reason, he could not be trusted off leash. He loves to carry toys around the house but will destroy a plush toy very quickly.
Beau is house trained and has full run of the house. Beau does not want to go in a crate but will settle down when corrected, and no people are in sight. He will counter surf when given the chance to search for the source of good smelling food. When it comes to commands, Beau does listen to the basics and will “sit,” “give paw,” and “stay.” He understands and responds to “no”. He is rather pig headed about listening to “come” and will often turn and go in the other direction. His foster mom is working on this. Beau pulls a little bit on the leash when taking walks. He loves to sleep and once he settles in for the evening, he often resists the finale trip outside before bed.
Beau has been to the groomer and enjoyed getting a bath and a quick trim. He loves to ride in the car and seems to settle down easily, looking out the window. Beau sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom, and in the evening loves to sit in front of his foster mom waiting for a back rub. He will return the favor with tons of kisses!
