Bear and Izzy had lived with the same Virginia family since they were pups. They were originally inside dogs but unfortunately, the owner’s husband died about two years ago leaving her with two young children and two young Springers. Bear and Izzy were then placed outside. The owner does not have any time to spend with them, so this lucky pair became MAESSR dogs.
Bear was really good at the vet. He had fleas/ticks when he came in and was immediately given a bath to get rid of other fleas. He is being treated for a skin infection that is the result of having fleas. He also tested positive for Lyme disease. He will be treated for that once the treatment for his skin infection is complete. The first round of treatment for worms is complete. There will be a second round of treatment will happen in 3 weeks.
Bear was also wonderful for his home grooming. He LOVED the attention. While he liked the bath, he enjoyed the grooming more.
This love has been a gracious house guest. He has not counter-surfed or trash dived. According to his previous family, he is known to do that, but has been good so far in his foster home. Bear has not had any accidents in his foster home. He is crate trained, but a crate is not necessary. He sleeps on a dog bed beside his foster parents’ bed. He does like soft toys and enjoys sucking on a nice, soft blanket.
Bear rides well in the car. Walking manners are not quite as smooth. He pulls on the leash very hard, and his foster mom recommends a harness for walking him.
All in all this is a very gentle Bear. He is a sweet and loving boy who is enjoying his new life back inside a MAESSR foster home. Watch out for him as he finishes his treatments and becomes a star.
