Update 02/07/11:
Bambi is settling into her foster home in southern New Jersey with her new foster sister Elsa. She was a little nervous at first but that could have been from the long trip to reach her family.
Along with her family, Bambi loves to go on walks with Elsa. Walking so nicely, you cannot even tell Bambi is on the leash. She gets along with children of all ages in the neighborhood, and, when meeting other dogs on walks, she is so good and well-mannered.
She is also a perfect house guest. Inside the home she doesn’t leave your side – definitely a Velcro Springer! She exhibits no food aggression but does try to do a little counter surfing. She tries to beg for food at dinner time but gives up and lays down when she sees that it is not working for her. She does not jump on the furniture at all – WoW!! There have been no accidents in the house as she makes a beeline for the door to go out when it’s time; her foster parents concede that if she does have an accident, it will be their fault for not getting to the door quickly enough. At night she quietly sleeps in her crate.
Bambi is a great girl and one who is just happy to lay right next to your feet. For now, she’s just getting to do a lot of that and is enjoying herself. Shortly she’ll be ready to nap at new feet – those of her adopting family. If you’re looking for a real sweetie, keep your eyes on Bambi.
Original:
Bambi came to MAESSR when her North Carolina family had some unexpected, major health issues. They relinquished five Springers to MAESSR – Bambi, Panzee, Pluto, Freckles 14, and Cody 10 – because they knew we would make sure they had loving forever homes.
A dedicated MAESSR volunteer couple handled the long transport for these beauties bringing them to a temporary foster home in Virginia where they enjoyed MAESSR hospitality for a week before starting on another transport north to their foster homes.
Watch for more on Bambi as she settles into life in her foster home in New Jersey.
