Original: Bailey is doing great in foster care. He gets along well with the other dogs and all of the humans. He is a sweet boy and would love a home of his own.
Bailey went to the vet today and we were very happy with his behavior. He was wiggling and scared but no sign of aggression. He even got his nails cut without complaint. We don’t think he has been to a vet since he was a puppy, just the way he acted.
Bailey has learned to sit. He is very smart. He is still a little iffy with not being the alpha in the pack. Sometimes he seems to be rebelling and doesn’t want to listen. He has gotten better little by little. He is made to sit for his food we has separate feeding areas. The kids do the feeding to reinforce his respect for them. He gets cookies when he is good. He is food driven and responsive to treats for training.
He weighs 61 pounds. Even though he is a big boy he can use a bit of trimming down. He has little muscle tone because he did not get proper exercise. He grumps at my dogs all the time. It may be better if he is an only dog. We see a lot of jealousy from Bailey with the other dogs. When the other dogs get petted he grumps like an old sailor.
Bailey needs obedience lessons. He pulls like a sled dog on the leash. He does listen to stay off of couch and bed, as long as his foster family is home. When they leave so does Bailey’s restraint and he’ll stand on the couch watching us leave.
This is a great boy who would do best as an only dog with a family who is willing to polish this grumpy sailor into a shining marine.
