Bailey came into MAESSR’s program from a shelter in western Pennsylvania. She had been surrendered by her owners. At 7 months and 25 pounds, she still has her puppy legs and is very petite. Her coat is soft and shiny, and, her ears are adorably long and curly. She still has a lot of growing to do and is definitely all puppy.
Bailey is the sweetest little springer, being full of energy and ready to GO, GO, GO!! She loves to play ball and fetch. She shares her foster home with two resident dogs who tower over her, yet, she is only intimidated when the resident male tries to rough house with her. With time and increasing confidence, her foster mom thinks she will play with the other dogs in the house.
At this stage, Bailey seems more content to carry around a squeak ball, following her foster mom from room to room, than she is to play with dogs. Her foster mom took her to work with her. Everybody at the office loved her and, of course, she loved the attention they gave her
Bailey knows a few basic commands such as “sit” and “down”. She walks well on a leash although she will pull a little at first. She will speak and give paw most of the time. She does beg at the table, but her foster mom is working on this. She jumps on furniture and likes beds, but will get down with a firm “OFF!” Of course, she will try to sneak back up. She sleeps in her crate, settling down after a couple of protesting whines.
Her previous owner said Bailey lived with a cat and didn’t do well. Her foster mom has not been able to test for this since Bailey has been with her.
Bailey will fit into an active home. She is very, very active herself and mouthy as all puppies are. For this reason she would be best suited for children over 10. Her adoptive family will need to complete her basic training. She will need and shine in an obedience class as all she wants to do is please. She can be the perfect little puppy and will grow into a beautiful dog. Can she grow into the perfect dog for you?
