Hailing from Ohio, Bailey first was with another rescue group. Due to her bad behavior towards some other dogs, they could not find a foster home for her. They contacted MAESSR and ask if we could help. Of course we said, “Yes.”
Bailey was previously thought not to be good with other dogs; however, she has done well with them in her foster home except for some occasional resource guarding. Being placed on an inexpensive supplement for anxiety has helped in her being more accepting of other dogs. In fact Bailey likes to be in the middle of the action whether it be with the other dogs or with people. And, she likes to be very close to her people!
This pretty senior loves toys– especially stuffed toys. She will play with them nicely for a while, but then, the stuffing and squeaker MUST be removed! Not much of a sharer with other dogs, Bailey will guard food and or a toy from the resident and foster canines. She does not hurt the other dog; instead, she just growls and snaps at it. She has not displayed this guarding behavior toward people. Good girl!
Bailey loves to go on walks. Every time she sees a leash she about wiggles out of her skin! Bailey is pretty good on the leash, too. She also like to ride in the car and is a good passenger.
Last year Bailey had torn her ACL and had it repaired. Now she receives a joint supplement to help her stay limber. You are incorrect if you think seniors don’t like to be active. All of the critters in the yard and on walks need to watch out since Bailey has a high prey drive and will give them a run for their money. Because of this, Bailey should not live with cats or other small animals.
Miss Bailey would do best in a forever home as an only dog or if there were just one other dog in the family. She is a very sweet girl who would love you forever!
