Original: Bailey is a handsome springer, slim and trim, with a tall, long frame. His owners bought him from a breeder in Maryland shortly before having their first child. The couple now has two small children and feel that they simply do not have the time to give to poor Bailey.
Bailey’s foster parents report that he has no aggressive tendencies, gets along well with their other two springers, and quickly bonded with the resident cat. His foster sisters were a little taken aback at first because he growls and bares his teeth a little when he plays, but they quickly learned that he’s simply got a unique style. Having been raised with small children, Bailey seems to be very good with them, although his high energy level might be a little much around toddlers.
He is great walking and running on a leash and stays close to his parents off leash in the yard. Bailey likes to play fetch, Frisbee, and swim. He knows basic commands and particularly likes to “sit” and “shake.” He sometimes jumps on people and begs for food but will stop when told “no.” So far, his foster parents have seen no counter surfing. He needs practice “staying” and tends to bolt out doors to be with his parents, but he’s very smart and should be able to learn just about anything with some training.
Bailey has primarily been an inside dog. He is housebroken and will whine to be let out and whine and scratch to be let in. He is used to going outside only to potty and for walks, but he seems to love his foster parents’ large fenced yard when they are outside with him. Bailey can be safely left inside for eight hours or more a day without accidents. He doesn’t seem to be very interested in toys or chewing, although he does like to play with tennis balls.
He’s an extremely sweet, active dog that is searching for a forever home where he can love and be loved. Does Bailey have a special place in your heart?
