When her West Virginia family fell on hard economic times, they brought Baby to a local shelter, sharing that she had lived with kids, dogs, and cats, doing great with all. Unfortunately, the shelter was quite crowded and Baby was overwhelmed by the noise and activity. They contacted MAESSR knowing that Baby would be quickly moved to a quiet foster home where she could relax while awaiting the next chapter in her life.
In the few weeks that Baby has been in her foster home she has gradually settled in and is beginning to act like the Springer Spaniel she is. She has found her voice and her ability to play by following the lead of the resident Springers. Baby is enjoying the pleasures of rawhides, dog biscuits, and playing in the yard with the other dogs. She is oblivious to the existence of the resident cats, although she does sneak into the cat food when she thinks her foster mom isn’t paying attention.
Baby is becoming accustomed to riding in a vehicle by taking weekend road trips with her foster mom. She is quite comfortable curling up in the passenger seat and napping during the ride. She is housebroken and has no problem letting someone know when she needs to go outside. Because Baby has a few separation issues, she would do best if someone in her forever home could be home with her for at least part of the day. She may make a mistake if she’s left alone too long. Baby loves to sneak up onto the bed when her foster mom is sleeping and will jump on the sofa if no one is watching. She doesn’t mean any harm, but she genuinely wants to be closer to the people she loves.
Although she still tugs on a leash, Baby’s manners are improving with each walk. She knows some basic commands but doesn’t typically need to be told what to do. As long as she can keep an eye on her family, she will be right by their side. Baby has been receptive to visitors and will be friendly, provided she is allowed to greet newcomers in her own time. She does not appreciate being overwhelmed with activity and chaos. She has been kenneled at her foster home during the day but she prefers to be allowed free run. She has not chewed on anything inappropriate in her foster home and does not give the impression that she is not trustworthy to have the run of the house.
Baby is a gentle soul who wants nothing more than to be part of a family who will love her and one she can love in return. She will make an amazing addition to the right home. Wouldn’t you like to make this sweetheart your baby?
