Original: Autumn Lucia was this puppy’s original name, but she has become known as “Lucy” to her foster family. Lucy’s former owner turned her into rescue due to his recent divorce. He was concerned she was spending too much time in her crate and was not getting the attention or exercise she needed. At 21 pounds and 13 inches, Lucy is a very small springer, but she still has some growing to do. Her ears are fuzzy and she has a full tail. Her health is excellent and she was great at the vet’s office.
Lucy knows her name and will come on and off leash. However, she has only been off leash in a safe setting without distractions. She loves to run and play. She is extremely eager to please which is a wonderful quality in a puppy. She knows the word “no” and will attempt to listen. Her foster sisters are teaching her how to play and when enough is enough! She LOVES toys and will chew through all the stuffed animals in the house, but never touches any shoes left by the door. She has not shown any sign of aggression or possessiveness over toys. She loves to share, so people will pull and play with her. Lucy is a wonderful jumper and would be great for agility or Frisbee. She will jump on furniture but knows “off” and will get down. She pulls on her leash and her foster family is working with her on this issue.
A constant schedule has helped Lucy with her housebreaking. In the morning she is so excited to see her people that she does not want to waste time outside. Once her foster mom started going out with her, she settled into doing what was needed. She has a great appetite and will whine for food during family meals but will go lay down when corrected. The first night in her foster home she did not want to be in her crate and made sure everyone was aware of this. She now will go in and settle right down.
Lucy is ALL PUPPY and full of energy. She loves to jump in a lap, cuddle close with her people, and fall asleep in their arms. She is so tiny and loves the one-on-one attention. She will nip at hands when she wants attention, but she is learning this is wrong. She loves to ride in the car and go places. She has been around young boys, ages 7 and 8, and was good with them. She will bark when a stranger comes to the door and is protective of her people.
Lucy will make an active person, with a great deal of time to give her, a wonderful companion. She will benefit from formal training and will definitely double her adopting family’s return on the love they give her
