Original: “Aramis just loves everyone, including strangers and other dogs.”
Aramis was relinquished by his owner in New Jersey because she worked 12 hours a day and had to leave him in her kitchen while she was away. Anxious when left alone, his barking annoyed the neighbors in the adjoining apartment. MAESSR is now helping this young boy find a new family to love.
While sedated for his neutering, Aramis also had a broken tooth extracted. He was a bit too active post-surgery and had a little bowel upset. He’s now taking a medication and a recommended diet to correct that situation. It is hoped that his new diet will add about five more pounds to his wiry frame.
Aramis loves his new foster home situation where he has shown himself to be a very sweet boy; he just wants to be near his people and please them. He very obediently performs the following commands: “sit,” “stay,” “come,” and “down.” Aramis just loves everyone, including strangers and other dogs. He is prey-oriented toward small animals, so he would most likely chase cats.
Aramis is very active yet has very nice house manners. He is both crate trained and housetrained and, although he might do a little counter-surfing to see what’s up there, he disturbs nothing in the house. At night he sleeps in his family’s bedroom.
In the short time with his foster family, Aramis has bonded quickly with his foster mom. He really prefers that she not leave his side, and has shown some initial concern when she leaves. His family tested his response to her leaving by placing him in a large crate with the female resident canine nearby for about 30 minutes. It appeared that Aramis had been barking for a while when his foster dad arrived home. His family is working with him through comings and goings to help him understand that, although his foster mom leaves the house, she will be coming back. His reaction was better after another session of coming and going by his foster mom.
Aramis rides well in the car and his leash manners are pretty good, although he pulls a little while walking. This playful guy loves toys and spends quite a bit of time playing with them. He has no problems with grooming and he was such a good boy at the vet!
His foster family has discovered Aramis to be a very happy, playful, and obedient sweetie. He longs for a family that will spend quality time with him because he is such a people pup. A family with children would be great for him since the more people there are to love him, the better! Aramis would probably enjoy the company of another dog, as well. If this sounds like your family, inquire about Aramis. He promises to be your loyal, loving friend.
