It’s hard to imagine that sweet, little Annie could engage in killing chickens but, indeed, this is the reason her Virginia family relinquished her to MAESSR. Since arriving in her foster home, where the only chicken she sees is in the freezer, Annie has been a perfect companion to humans and canines alike. She loves people and can’t get close enough for petting and to share her kisses. She is living with 3 springers and gets along with each of them. When at the vet’s office, the lobby was full of all sizes and shapes of dogs and cats, and Annie sat very close to her foster mom, yet she didn’t seem fearful – just very willing to stay close and look around. She sat patiently less than 2 feet from a crated kitty whom she ignored after one sniff. Good girl!
Annie is housebroken, crate-trained, and very well mannered when on a leash. She sleeps bedside with the rest of the dogs and her human family at night. During the day she is crated while the family is at work. In addition, she has been left for up to an hour with run of the kitchen and alongside one of the resident dogs and was trustworthy. She has been a good rider on both short and long distance outings, always riding quietly in a crate for her safety.
At 33 pounds including her full tail, Annie still has some growing to do. She is delicately boned and may top out around 40 pounds at maturity. She is in excellent health. The vet commented on how well she was built and in what good condition she is. She definitely impressed him! She accepted all the handling well as she does at home. Annie will allow her food to be removed mid-meal and has not shown any hints of ill temperament.
Because of her age, MAESSR will require that Annie attend a class in basic obedience with her adopting family. She should breeze though and will enjoy the chance to work with her new people. She is a wonderful youngster and will be a terrific addition to who ever decides to give her their last name!!!
