Original: Annie was found as a stray running the streets of Virginia Beach with a male stray Springer. Animal control rescued them from traffic and called MAESSR.
Annie is a very sweet, field bred Springer with a full tail. She is housetrained but does not like to be confined in a crate or even a room, for that matter. She lets her foster family know when she wants to go outside by standing at the door and when she wants to come back in, she barks. Otherwise, she is quiet and does not bark unless someone is at the door. She refuses to go outside when she doesn’t have to go to the bathroom or there is nothing in her yard to her liking unless she is on a leash. Her tail is her best communicator; it flies around like a helicopter blade when she sees something out the window that she wants to investigate!
Annie does not counter-surf and will not touch a plate of food even when left unattended within easy reach. Annie is a smart girl and has learned her name quickly. She comes when she is called and she knows “sit” and “down” as well. She walks well on a leash after the first couple minutes of excitement. Annie travels well in the car and thinks she can drive until one of her foster parents tries to sit down. Then, she’ll move over and sit in the passenger seat, behaving herself. She is good with other dogs that have come to visit and seems disinterested in the neighborhood cats that she has met on her walks. She also likes to go on short runs with her human foster brother. Annie does not fetch and likes to walk around with her bone rather than chewing on it. She likes to greet people at the door with something in her mouth– normally her foster brother’s size 14’s! She will let her people take the shoe from her very easily. Annie is not possessive over her food bowl and will wait patiently until her foster mom has her hands away from the bowl before she eats.
The most adorable thing about Annie is her affection for belly rubs. She will run up to her human caretakers and flop down belly up, lying motionless on her back until her needs are satisfied. Sometimes that will last a mere five minutes until she needs another belly rub fix. If her human doesn’t rub to her satisfaction, she will gently paw at his or her knee until she is grinning with delight. Annie is the perfect submissive dog; she isn’t high energy in the house. She is quiet and sweet and she has an abundance of love for you!
