Original: “Angus is a happy, playful, cuddly pup that would like to play ball and snuggle all day.”
Angus was surrendered to MAESSR by his family in North Carolina because of two altercations he had with their other dogs. One of the altercations was over a toy. Despite loving him dearly, his family felt he would be happier as an “only child.”
Angus is a happy, playful, cuddly pup that would like to play ball and snuggle all day. He almost always has a tennis ball in his mouth! He is very well-mannered. He communicates well when he needs to go outside by whimpering at the door and has not had any accidents in the home. He doesn’t counter-surf, get into trash, jump on people, or chew anything other than his toys. Angus will drink from the toilet once in a while and does get on the couch. At night he likes to sleep on the bed in between his foster mom and dad. He was not crated in his former home but does go into the crates his foster family has for him on his own. The door has been left open for him so far, but his foster mom and dad will be working on his having success at being able to stay in a crate when they leave the home.
Angus is experiencing cats for the first time and does sometimes chase them, but often ignores them. His foster parents are not sure if he would hurt one if he was able to catch them. This is also something they are working on with Angus. To be completely fair, there are three kitty friends in his foster home so it can be a little overwhelming.
Having never been exposed to anyone younger than 20 with his original family, Angus is hesitant with youngsters. When a 12 year old friend came to visit, he was playful with her until he thought she might try to take his ball from his mouth and warned her with a grumble.
This sweet boy had been to the vet and groomer just before his foster parents picked him up so they have not observed him in either situation; but reportedly he is fine with both. Angus likes to be petted all over, including his ears. He knows the commands “sit” and “stay” and probably more, as he is very smart.
Not the greatest on a leash, Angus’ pulling has decreased since the purchase of an Easy Walk harness. He has not been off leash outside. He has met a few dogs on walks and greeted all with a wagging tail and no growling, but no dogs have visited his foster home yet. He does give a strong woof when he sees people walk by or hears a knock at the door but it doesn’t last long.
Angus is not very comfortable in the car. He jumps in with no hesitation but immediately hunkers down on the floor behind the seats with his head under the seat. His foster parents have only had him in the car once so far and plan to try out some things to help him feel safe in the car.
Angus would probably prefer to be the only dog in the home as he loves as much attention as his people could give. His foster parents quickly fell in love with his sweet, joyful soul as would an adoptive family.
