Update 07/07/11:
Angel continues to enjoy the good life. He’s included in a lot of activities with his foster family – walks, playing, boating and just lounging around with them. He shows no bad habits at all – no food, toy, people, or dog aggression. If a bird or rabbit crosses in front of him, he does pull slightly on his leash for the first block or so. He is continuing to lose some of his extra pounds and can even run now! He would do well with a family that can continue an exercise routine to keep slimming him down. Also, he would enjoy a home with another dog to keep him company as he has never lived without a playmate.
This boy is very loveable, will follow you from room to room, loves to get bathed in the outside shower and would take a shower everyday if you gave it to him. He romps in ocean waves and likely can swim, though he has not been in the pool yet. Angel has full run of his homes and there has never been one issue. He doesn’t dig or chew and sleeps with a toy on the bedroom floor. Yes, he has been seen on a sofa but does get off with just a glance his way. Good Boy!!
Angel is ready to move on to a forever home. He is great and will be a terrific addition to any Springer-loving family!!
Original:
When Angel’s owner passed away, he ended up in a high-kill Pennsylvania shelter. Fortunately an all-breed rescue pulled Angel to safety until MAESSR was able to get him into foster care.
Angel’s foster father reports that he has no bad habits at all. He is completely housetrained and sits on command. He doesn’t counter-surf, trash dive, jump up when greeting people, or get on the furniture. His foster father hasn’t even heard him bark! At night, Angel sleeps quietly on the bedroom floor. With house manners like that, it is no surprise that Angel gets the run of his foster home with no issues whatsoever.
An easy-going boy, Angel is getting along well with the two resident Springers in his foster home. He is also great with people of all ages. Although he is unknown with cats, he shows little interest in them when he sees one on a walk and would likely be okay living with a dog-savvy cat.
Angel is presently overweight by about twenty pounds. His foster family is working on slimming him down using a combination of diet and increased activity. Since Angel loves being outdoors and going for walks, the activity component of this plan is working out quite nicely for him. Unfortunately, Angel hasn’t enjoyed the reduced portions quite as much. He doesn’t beg for people food, but will pace back and forth hoping for a taste when his people are eating.
With trips back and forth to the beach, Angel is in the car quite a bit. He travels well and generally just lays on the floor and sleeps. The payoff for all these rides is getting to take walks on the beach, which Angel really loves. He has good leash manners after he has had a few minutes to settle in. Angel is a playful boy who also likes to chase a ball, but doesn’t bring it back most of the time.
If you’d like to adopt a sweet dog with excellent house manners and a laidback personality, Angel just might be your little piece of heaven!
