Angel celebrated her 12th birthday with her new MAESSR foster family! She was relinquished along with her housemate Dusty 4 by their Pennsylvania family who could no longer afford to keep them.
Angel has adjusted very quickly to her new home and has won over the hearts of all who meet her. For a mature Springer, she is still quite lively and loves to be the center of attention!
When she came to MAESSR, Angel was suffering from a urinary tract infection, but the treatment has already done wonders for her comfort. She has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and has been placed on inexpensive medication for that as well. Soon she will have a small mammary tumor removed along with a rectal cyst. When these procedures are done, Angel will also have her teeth cleaned– something she sorely needs. The vet says she is in excellent health otherwise and certainly has a voracious appetite, especially for people food!
Angel obviously was fed human food at her previous home as she is intensely focused on whoever is preparing or eating food. In her defense, she is very ladylike and does not bark of overtly beg for food; instead, she will sit quietly and stare at whoever is eating in the hopes of enticing them to throw her some pieces! When she first came into foster care, she did have a few accidents in the house, but the treatment of the urinary tract infection has greatly improved that issue. Still, she cannot go more than about 8 hours without a potty break.
All in all, Angel is doing very well for a lady of her experience! She is very quiet most of the time except when she hears sirens. When fire engines roared past the house recently, Angel really startled her foster mom when she began to howl! She can howl with the best of them!
