Miss Angel is one of the sweetest puppies ever born. She loves to cuddle up under your chin, with a paw on each side of your neck. However, don’t let that fool you! She also likes to romp with her brother, and she has a particular toy animal that’s her favorite. She takes it in her mouth and shakes it really hard until she falls over. It’s so cute to watch! Just this morning, she napped with her little head on the toy. Oh, and she howls just as well as her brother and puts everything she has into it!
Both puppies are very healthy, with shiny alert eyes and very shiny coats. They both carry their tails up and wagging ALL of the time. Their attitudes are terrific! They’re happy to play with you or just rest happily in your arms. Remember the pumpkin from their Halloween photos? Well, that plastic pumpkin made a great puppy toy. We cut the carrying straps off and pulled out the rivets so they wouldn’t get hurt. They roll that thing around their pen and attempt to climb on it, just to roll off. Angel puts her head in it and walks around, too cute for words!
Update: Dec.30, 2002
Angel discovered a mud puddle at the park this morning. The Labrador came out in her, and she rolled in the mud. She was adorable. Angel does VERY well with children who are not afraid of dogs. There are several children (as young as three) who come to the park who play with Angel, and she does very well. The difference is that all of these children have dogs at home and are not afraid of her. She really lives up to her name. ….(by the way, Angel is cat neutral).
Angel is an absolute delight everywhere we go. In an effort to help her be the best dog she can be, I take her everywhere. Each day starts out with a trip to the dog park. There is another lab mix puppy that Angel has befriended. They enjoy wrestling and playing together. Angel will hide behind a trashcan and when Hanibal tries to get to her she will turn around and grab him from behind. She is quite the sneak in her “war” strategy. Several young children accompany their parents and animals to the park and Angel has enchanted every single one of them! This morning, 3.5-year-old Anna announced, “Angel is my best friend!”
In addition to the dog park, Angel has made friends with all of the neighbors and their dogs. She especially likes to go to Charlie’s house (Charlie is a Boston Terrier) to play with his toys. She is quite the charmer.
Angel has recently learned to fetch and return a tennis ball. She could do this for hours. We usually stop when my arm can’t throw another. It is amazing how she can just run and run.
Potty training is going pretty well. Right now we are going on two days without an accident. Most days there is one accident in the house. Anyone who takes Angel into their home needs to be committed to letting her out at regular intervals to keep up this training.
While Angel is a bundle of energy, she is also happy to be picked up and loved. She will fall asleep on my lap at any opportunity. In the evenings, she will fall asleep on my lap and rest her head on the stomach of my Springer, Norman. Needless to say, I am stuck in one position watching television for a while…I hate it when I forget to grab the remote first!
All in all, anyone who provides a forever home for Angel will be getting the sweetest dog in the world.
Is this sweet Angel for you?
Update: Our Sweet Angel found her forever home!
Update: 01/22/03Here is what Angel’s Adoptive home has to say about her:
Boy, is she a sweetie. First off, let me tell you when we first started looking at dogs to adopt on the web site in November, my seven-year-old daughter fell in love with Angel. You can’t believe how many times I heard “Can we adopt Angel?” Our 16.5-year-old Springer, Brie, passed away two weeks ago. I notified MAESSR I was now ready to adopt a dog. (I had been on the waiting list for a Spring adoption.) I saw Angel was offered, but we put in our interest in her, given my daughters love for her. Lo and behold, a little over a week later we were offered Angel. I immediately was in touch with her foster Mom. By the way her foster Mom was totally in love with her and almost adopted her herself. We met in Gettysburg last Wednesday and I picked up Angel. She is a joy in our household. We were really missing our Brie. She is very sweet and playful and good with my children who are 10 and 7 years old. She has met many dogs and people in the neighborhood, and everyone loves her. One of my best friends has a 3-month-old Golden Retriever who Angel has made fast friends with. Angel is sitting in my lap right now, falling asleep. She is very eager to please and has already been very trainable. She rides to school with the kids everyday. She’s great in the car. I am home with her most of the day. I am just in and out for shopping, tennis, working out and such. I stay at home for my children so I have a lot of time for Angel. Yesterday, I took her for her first vet check. She weighs 23 pounds and is up-to-date on her shots and very healthy. My vet loved her personality by the way!!! I have had a hole in my heart filled with Angel. I was dearly missing my old Springer and now Angel has brought us a lot of joy and entertainment. Thank you all for your hard work and donations for Angels health care. I hope that Zack and Faith make out as well with their health and homes. I’m so glad we could provide a home for Angel!!!
