Where do you start with Andy. Poor boy, he was living on a porch, which was so filthy he was covered in his own feces. We don’t know how regularly this boy was fed, but he is very skinny. He had a ball of matted hair the size of a baseball hanging from his neck. He was so relieved when his foster mom cut it off. Despite the neglect and skinniness, this is a really beautiful dog.
And sweet too! You would think that this guy might harbor a grudge against people for treating him so badly. Not Andy. He loves people. He is a little shy of men at first and may bark some. Given a day or two to warm up and he think he’s a lap dog. This boy has been patiently waiting for people to love him. He is really blooming in foster care. He loves playing with the other dogs and has a great appetite.
Sadly, Andy has heartworm. Not surprising, why would you expect folks to take care of his medical maintenance when they wouldn’t feed him? In a few weeks, after we have some weight on Andy, we will start the heartworm treatment. Keep a good thought for Andy in your mind and we will keep you posted.
A family who lives very close to Andy’s foster home came to visit and fell in love. They have adopted Andy and will be caring for him through his heartworm treatment. It is a great set-up as they are home more and will have more time to focus on him.
