Original: Andre came to MAESSR from a shelter in Pennsylvania. He had been left to wander. The shelter featured him on a television show and his original owner came in and gave them more information on Andre. The original owner had placed him with what she thought was a wonderful family; however, they had just turned him loose. Unfortunately, the original owner could not take him back due to family issues.
Andre does not know that he is blind. He jumps on his foster parents’ bed to sleep and he jumps off the bed without concern. He likes to play fetch with a tennis ball by listening for the bounce. Andre adores playing with toys. He will play for hours by himself, but he does bark at his toys which can get a little annoying at times.
Andre learned the layout of his foster home in about ten minutes. He walks around like he has always lived there. He understands commands like “step,” “around,” and “watch out.” Andre will bark if he gets confused or loses you, but he stops barking as soon as you let him know where you are. He is fine to be left alone for up to nine hours. Andre loves to go for car rides, too. If he finds his foster mom’s car door open, he jumps in. This boy is nothing short of amazing! Many people that meet him are not convinced he is blind although he has been without sight since he was a puppy. He was blinded in a car accident which caused his “lenses” to dislocate.
Andre is a big boy and weighs about 65 pounds. He could stand to lose a few pounds. When it comes to going for a walk, he is good on a leash. He has good house manners and does not counter surf or jump on people. This gentle boy wants to with you or near you all the time.
He is such a wonderful loving boy. Can you “see” yourself having dinner with Andre?
