After their New York state owner died, Alfie and his housemate Spanky ended up in a shelter. Then, they became MAESSR Springers and a new chapter of their lives began – one with a happy, loving ending in sight.
Alfie is a big boy weighing in at the vet’s office at a hefty 87 pounds. The vet and Alfie’s foster mom agreed that a weight loss plan and more exercise were in order for him! He likes to play and go for walks so with monitored intake of quality food, Alfie should not have too much trouble trimming down. He was a very good boy during his exam, too!
Driving to the vet appointment did not thrill Alfie, however, as he does not ride well in cars. He cries. Once he begins to associate riding in the car with fun activities like going to the park, this behavior may dissipate. Not at all destructive, Alfie is a gentle, loveable boy. He is housetrained and has good inside manners. At night he sleeps quietly on the floor by his foster parents’ bed. Alfie is good about keeping his paws on the floor and not on the counter. A Velcro boy, he likes to be with his people and will cry and howl for a short while when left alone.
Although Alfie has not met any new dogs at the park, he gets along very well with his housemate Spanky. He walks well on a leash with her, side-by-side touching tummies. In the morning and during the day, this affectionate boy gives Spanky kisses. Alfie and she like to play tug-of-war with their toys, too. When you lightly touch his behind, Alfie sits and he responds to the command wait, staying until he is released.
This good-natured, sweet Springer knows what’s it all about – love, faithfulness, and fun! Won’t you open your heart and home to Alfie?
