Original: Adam is high spirited and incredibly energetic. He will play as rough as you like and has no problem allowing you to touch his face and mouth in a playful manner. He is also incredibly affectionate. He has come into MAESSR’s care because his owner is moving to a townhouse and could not take him along. He enjoys very good health, is generally well behaved, and is a curious dog who is not easily distracted.
Adam is adjusting to his move very well. He does not try to escape from the yard and walks well on a leash. He will not get on furniture unless invited, having learned quickly that sofas are not big dog beds. He does not exhibit any food aggression problems nor does he try to take food off the kitchen counters. Not one to miss opportunity though, he has no problem lingering in the kitchen in hopes that you will drop something.
When doing short jaunts around town, Adam has ridden well, but he had a bit of car sickness on a longer journey. His family would suggest that his new traveling companions keep their trips with him short until his tolerance for longer road adventures can be established.
One noticeable mannerism with Adam is his tendency to get defensive when disciplined. He feels threatened very easily. He does retreat to a kennel when he wants to relax which apparently also makes him feel more secure. He will benefit from consistent leadership and discipline to modify this behavior. Due to this issue, his foster mom feels that an adopting family with a strong adult presence and no young children would be best for him.
There have been new dogs for Adam to meet in his foster home, both a resident dog and another foster. He is great with them and has been with a neighbor’s Blue Tick and a Terrier. He has no problems with other dogs at all. He is alright with cats. However, the cat needs to be a cat that is not intimidated by dogs. His foster family has 3 cats that have stood their ground and 2 that run when they see or hear Adam coming. As a result, Adam is incredibly intrigued by the two that run. Adam is completely housebroken and reliable in the house. He is crated when his family is away because they are still trying to get him comfortable with the cats and can’t leave them unattended. Otherwise, he has free run of the house when his people are home.
Adam is a very handsome and engaging Springer. He has all the gentlemanly manners that make living close to Springers such a pleasure and so easy. He is looking for a forever family who will merge their energy with his and be comfortable as new leaders of his pack. What more could a Springer ask for??
