Updated 8/7/05: Ace’s wonderful, fun-loving temperament is really beginning to unfold in his foster home. He has discovered that he LOVES being an inside boy and really has no desire to go outside for anything. Air conditioning is really his style! Ace does not know any commands and desperately wants to learn anything one wants to teach him. He just looks his foster mom in the face to determine if there is anything else he can do to make her love him more. His foster mom would strongly encourage his adopting family to take Ace to an obedience class. She believes that would help make him into the perfect dog.
Ace is now housebroken. He was corrected for starting to lift his leg and decided not to do that anymore. He wants to be loved so much that he just does not like to upset his foster mom. He is crate trained and rides very well in a car. He is always eager to be out and going with his people and wants to be the center of their world. Between his enthusiasm and lack of training, he pulls on his leash when walking but will figure this out with a little more time.
When Ace went to the vet to be neutered, his skin was in such bad shape that a delay was necessary. He has a yeast infection over his entire body. He is currently on antibiotics and his skin looks better after just a few days. As soon as the skin is cleared, he will be neutered. Despite his temporary health issue, this is one extremely sweet boy who will eagerly join an adopting family as soon as possible.
Original: Ace was in a shelter in western Virginia for six weeks with his brother Cody before coming into MAESSR’s care. The pair of dogs had been dropped there by their owner. Ace’s coat was so extremely matted that his foster mom had no alternative except to shave his coat. His ears were so matted that they looked like mittens. He probably had 8 pounds of mats on him before his clipping. Needless to say, he already feels much better!
Ace wants attention so desperately that he just becomes a wild wiggle butt when you love on him. There will be more information on Ace coming in the next few weeks as his vet assessment comes together and his foster family gets to know him better.
