IT’S A FUNDRAISER! To mark 25 years of MAESSR, we’ve launched a t-shirt fundraiser. You can choose from two t-shirts, a long-sleeve t-shirt, or a crewneck sweatshirt in a variety of colors. All proceeds help MAESSR continue to find homes for Springers in need.

We can earn money through WOOFTRAX.COM just by walking our dogs – in fact you don’t even need a dog, just a smartphone and some good walking shoes! Download the app for your cell phone and follow the directions. (If Wooftrax doesn’t come up, look for Walk For A Dog.) When asked to pick a shelter/rescue (it may show the one closest to your home, but ask to change) pick VA as the site, scroll to the M’s and select MAESSR. You will then be asked to verify your email address. Keep following directions, and the app will appear on your phone’s screen. When you tap it, enter your dog’s info and start walking. It is a simple process each time you go for a walk. Currently we have 27 active walkers. Spread the word – make your walks count!

Rainbow Bridge Crossings
BRODY 5 (Class of 2024) came to MAESSR due to severe allergic reactions to him by the children in his original loving home. Brody was fostered by CHERYL AND RICK LARNER. He was adopted and returned to MAESSR two weeks later through no fault of his own. The Larners quickly took him back and adopted this sweet boy. Brody never seemed to meet a stranger and loved everyone. He enjoyed spending time in the yard, going for walks, watching squirrels, playing with his stuffed toys and snuggling on the sofa or in bed at night. He was so loving and a true delight! Brody died from an aneurysm the day before his second birthday. Cheryl and Rick are heartbroken by his sudden passing. He is missed greatly by the entire family.
BUGSY (class of 2020) came to MAESSR due to divorce and was fostered by DEBBIE LIPCSEY. Bugsy was much loved by DON AND SUE LEWIS and their +55 community. He always had a toy in his mouth on their walks, and everyone would say “here comes Bugsy with another toy.” Bugsy knew that certain homes would give him a treat and if their garage door was open, he would head up their driveway! Whenever Sue was in the kitchen he was always laying in front of where she wanted to open a cabinet or the refrigerator, and he was hard to move! He also had a built-in time clock that let them know when it was time for him to eat or get his eye ointment treatment which included a treat. Their home is sad and empty now that Bugsy has passed.
SHELLY (ARIA, class of 2014) came to MAESSR as the result of a MD kennel closing and was fostered by DEBBIE FUGATE. A little before midnight on August 15th Shelly had her final goodbyes due to congestive heart failure. She had been with MARY and LEE BEACH for ten wonderful years. Born on 10/10/10, she definitely scored a 10 on sweetness! She was the world’s best snuggler! She loved her family with everything she had, and they felt the same about her. Her Springer sister, Cocoa Beach, is lost without her, and Lee and Mary are heartbroken.
