IT’S A FUNDRAISER! To mark 25 years of MAESSR, we’ve launched a t-shirt fundraiser. You can choose from two t-shirts, a long-sleeve t-shirt, or a crewneck sweatshirt in a variety of colors. All proceeds help MAESSR continue to find homes for Springers in need.
It’s that time of year again – time to submit photos for the 2025 MAESSR calendar! Take new photos and go through the ones you have – you might find some great shots that would be perfect to submit for the 2025 calendar. We need seasonal photos and “any time of the year” photos. Show off your adorable MAESSR pup! All photos need to be submitted by TODAY – June 30, 2024 – to be included in the 2025 calendar! Log in and link to webpage to view guidelines.

BEHAVIOR ADJUSTMENT TRAINING 2.0: BAT FOR FEAR, FRUSTRATION, AND AGGRESSION IN DOGS (290 pages) by Grisha Stewart. Empower your dog to gain confidence and social skills! With BAT 2.0, trainer/author Grisha Stewart has completely overhauled Behavior Adjustment Training (BAT) to create a new efficient and practical tool for dog reactivity. BAT 2.0 builds resilience and self-reliance by giving dogs safe opportunities to learn about people, dogs, or other triggers. Clear enough for all readers to follow, this book also includes technical tips and bonus chapters just for dog behavior professionals. Learn how to: Rehabilitate aggression, frustration, and fear. – Use survival skills to prevent reactivity on walks and at home. – Use a long line to safely maximize your dog s freedom of movement. Apply Grisha’s BAT philosophy to all dogs and puppies…and get your life back! Donated by Cathy Moyer.
DOG DAYS – DISPATCHES FROM BEDLAM FARM (288 pages) by Jon Katz. In Dog Days, Jon Katz, the squire of Bedlam Farm, allows us to live our dreams of leaving the city for the country, and shares the unpredictable adventure of farm life. The border collies, the sheep, the chickens, the cat, the ram, and one surprisingly sociable steer named Elvis all contribute to the hum (and occasional roar) of Bedlam. On timeless summer days and in punishing winter storms, Katz continues his meditation on what animals can selflessly teach us–and what we in turn owe to them. With good neighbors, a beautiful landscape, and tales of true love thrown in, Dog Days gives us not only marvelous animal stories but a rich portrait of the harmonious world that is Bedlam Farm. Donated by Fran Hrastar.
Library Wish Lists
The TRAINING LIBRARY has TWO Wish Lists. New or used titles can be purchased from the Amazon list; Dogwise has new books and DVDs. Purchases can be shipped directly to the library. Pretty quick and easy way to help out MAESSR as well as educate adopters!
Rainbow Bridge Crossings
CLAIRE 2 (class of 2020) was surrendered along with three other Springers due to her VA owners’ divorce. Clair was previously living in an outdoor kennel but became an indoor girl when she was fostered by DEBBIE LIPCSEY. Clair was adopted by TINA MCMANUS when she was 9-10 years old and gave Tina the best years of her life. They became the best of friends, the best of companions, and Tina will always carry with her Clair’s crazy antics and loving nature.
CAINE aka CHARLEY (class of 2011) came into MAESSR’s care along with his two brothers, Cyclone and Lane, when their MD owner encountered financial difficulties and was no longer able to care for them. Following an adoption, Caine came back to MAESSR through no fault of his own. He was again fostered by LAURA MARINARO and adopted by MICK & ELLEN TORMEY with whom he shared kisses until his passing.
Sweet little MOLLEE (class of 2012) came from a MD breeder who was not able to sell all of his pups. Knowing he wanted the dogs he bred to go to good homes, Mollee’s owner contacted MAESSR knowing we could find her the ideal forever home.Through a twist of fate she ended up staying with foster DAN KEPPLER. She was his original tennis ball girl and lived with her actual siblings Buddy and Jack. Mollee shared her home with dozens of dogs over the years and was always the sweetest and loving girl. Dan is sure she is dropping a tennis ball somewhere in heaven, waiting for someone to throw it to her.
