Fund$ for Foster$
We can earn money through WOOFTRAX.COM just by walking our dogs – in fact you don’t even need a dog, just a smartphone and some good walking shoes! Download the app for your cell phone and follow the directions. (If Wooftrax doesn’t come up, look for Walk For A Dog.) When asked to pick a shelter/rescue (it may show the one closest to your home, but ask to change) pick VA as the site, scroll to the M’s and select MAESSR. You will then be asked to verify your email address. Keep following directions, and the app will appear on your phone’s screen. When you tap it, enter your dog’s info and start walking. It is a simple process each time you go for a walk. Currently we have 23 active walkers. Spread the word – make your walks count!
Check out CHEWY.COM – Place your first order and chewy.com will proudly donate $20 to MAESSR! There is a huge selection of pet food (including 5-star dog foods), treats, and supplies delivered straight to your door! They sell over 300 brands of pure pet love, have 24/7 customer service, free shipping on orders over $49, and are cheaper than your local store. Sign up for automatic shipment of dog food or other supplies right to your door on the schedule you choose. No more lugging big bags of dog food from your car to the house!

The MAESSR MARKETPLACE is open 24/7 for purchases. We’ve also got cool toys for man’s best friend and companion. The MAESSR store and website are in transition – thanks so much for your understanding while we make improvements to the store and website.

Featured Library Titles
AGGRESSION IN DOGS: PRACTICAL MANAGEMENT, PREVENTION, & BEHAVIOUR MODIFICATION (425 pages) by Brenda Aloff. For anyone who wants to know more about aggression or dog behavior. As the book says, Aggression has a wide range of manifestations. And, it shows how to address reactive or aggressive behavior, with over 400 pages of text, drawings, and photographs. This book does not just discuss aggression. It describes in great detail protocols to use for behavior modification. Starting with prevention, the reader learns about common mistakes owners make to promote aggression in their dog, and how to avoid these mistakes. In the behavior modification section, you will learn about how to build trust with the dog, using positive reinforcement. Shows how to achieve this level of trust with hundreds of exercises to promote appropriate behavior and modify inappropriate behavior. In the practical management section, the reader is prepared for a lifelong regimen of keeping his dog safe. The exercises in this book will be a salvation for problem dogs and a guide for prevention for others. Anyone involved with dogs will find a wealth of information about dog behavior in these pages and practical “do-able” solutions for problems. Donated by Darlene Cole.
THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN (321 pages) by Garth Stein. If you’ve ever wondered what your dog is thinking, Stein’s third novel offers an answer. Enzo is a lab terrier mix plucked from a farm outside Seattle to ride shotgun with race car driver Denny Swift as he pursues success on the track and off. Denny meets and marries Eve, has a daughter Zoë and risks his savings and life to make it on the professional racing circuit. Enzo, frustrated by his inability to speak and his lack of opposable thumbs, watches Denny’s old racing videos, coins koan-like aphorisms that apply to both driving and life, and hopes for the day when his life as a dog will be over and he can be reborn a man. Donated by Phyllis Chan and Darlene Cole.
Library Wish Lists
