Update 07/09/2018: “Wonderful news!!! Pepper can SEE!!!”
Wonderful news!!! Pepper can SEE!!! Pepper had the cataracts removed from both eyes about two weeks ago. He is so excited that he can see now. He runs around checking out everything. It is expected that Pepper will start to lose weight because he is so much more active. His foster mom thinks that we all take being able to see for granted…but Pepper has reminded her that vision is such an amazing gift.
Pepper is the sweetest boy and just loves attention. Now that he can see he is never more than a couple of feet from one of his foster parents. If you would like someone to show you what it is like to get a second chance in life, Pepper will be more than willing to show you the way.
Update 04/30/2018: “Please send positive thoughts for Pepper as he waits for his next visit with the eye doctor.”
Pepper has been navigating very well in his new foster home. He recently visited the doggie eye doctor where it was determined that he has dry eye in both eyes. He will remain on drops for this condition for the rest of his life. After giving Pepper’s eyes a chance to heal, he will return to the specialist to determine if his retinas are still in good shape. If they are, surgery will be performed with the hope that some of this sweet boy’s sight can be restored.
What a lucky boy to have MAESSR on his side. Please send positive thoughts for Pepper as he waits for his next visit with the eye doctor.
Original: “Otherwise, he is good about finding his way around his foster home and surprised his foster mom by heading up and down the stairs all on his own one day.”
Pepper was the beloved boy of an elderly Pennsylvania woman who left him with her son when she went into a nursing home. Unfortunately the son fell ill, and his caregiver could not handle caring for Pepper as well. So, two good Samaritans stepped in and this wonderful fellow soon became a MAESSR boy.
Pepper is low energy and quiet. He is blind and has cataracts. MAESSR is having him evaluated by an ophthalmologist to see if some sight might be restored. Otherwise, he is good about finding his way around his foster home and surprised his foster mom by heading up and down the stairs all on his own one day. She had been carrying him down, not knowing that he could navigate the twelve steps all on his own!
This new honorary Springer is slowly exploring the neighborhood on leash walks. These regular strolls are helping him lose about fifteen pounds. Once trimmed down he will be even more active.
Pepper will be switching foster homes in order to see the ophthalmologist. Watch for more updates on the beautiful Cocker.
